Each person who comes to me for therapy is unique and my approach certainly is not cookie-cutter. I help individuals understand their behavior, their self-concepts, relationships, and together we find the tools to navigate a successful path.
Together we work on how to deal with differences of opinion utilizing various communication techniques. By understanding the relationship dynamics, as well as individual needs we find tools to enhance your relationship / marriage. I work with married couples, unmarried couples and same gender couples.
Sometimes children demonstrate behavior that is worrisome, such as acting out in school, hitting, biting, excessive fighting with siblings and/or friends, sadness, anxiety, lack of focus, lying. I work with children age 4 and older. With young children I use approaches that include play therapy: drawing, games, doll, puppet and sand tray play. These approaches help me learn about their struggles and strengths so I can assist accordingly. The therapy room is a safe place for children to express emotions.
Teenagers and young adults may need to unload thoughts and feelings about such difficulties as peer and parental pressure, self-esteem issues, stress, and depression. I offer teens assistance with difficult situations and guide them to express their emotions in a healthy way.
Having a strong and high functioning family unit is the basis for future relationships and life functions. This is where enhanced communication and restructuring can positively help families transform their interactions and build trust and support.
This can be one of the most devastating experiences one can endure. I help those going through this trauma in a number of ways: Therapy, Mediation, Coparent Counseling, Collaborative Divorce Coaching, Collaborative Child Specialist, Consultation, Child Custody Evaluation, Brief Focused Assessment, and Parenting Coordination.
